Talk:Main Page

Revision as of 14:22, 28 November 2006 by Juliant (Talk | contribs)

This title page is just ugly and a horrible "welcome" to anybody who approaches the Eiffel community. We need some improvements. I suggest that we temporarily develop a New Main Page and move it to Main Page later. --Schoelle 23:52, 15 November 2006 (CET)

I'm ok with the current page, but I'll welcome any new page. Feel free to contribute the first draft of New Main Page and then I can better see what you would prefer and then we will ask the community at large. I think what is missing there is a nice picture. Thanks for bringing this up.--manus 08:01, 16 November 2006 (CET)

The following is the old text

Welcome to Eiffel Software's Wiki, the home page for Eiffel Software's Open Source initiative in collaboration with the Chair of Software Engineering at ETH Zurich.

Project ideas
If you'd like to contribute to the progress of Eiffel technology but don't know where to start, be sure to take a look at the project suggestion pages. They contain lots of great ideas for projects large and small!

To download or look at the source code of EiffelStudio, please go to the SVN repository page.

To compile the source code, you will need a snapshot of the current development release of EiffelStudio. To get it go to the Downloads page.

Just that it doesn't get forgotten and since someone of the admins has to change navigation I post this here again (From Talk:New Main Page):

Also a new page logo (at least withouth the white border) and a new navigation would look better. I would split the navigation to a 'normal navigation' part and a 'developers' part (see below).

Navigation proposal:

  • Navigation
    • Home (not sure if this is needed because the logo alredy points to the main page)
    • Categories
    • Downloads
    • Version history
    • FAQ
    • Mailing lists
    • Eiffel links
  • Developement
    • Recent changes
    • Changelog of 6.x
    • SVN repository
    • Compiling
    • How to contribute
